Do hair extensions damage your hair?

I am fascinated by hair extensions; they really give flexibility to us. One moment you hair is short and the next moment it can be long giving many more options for hairdos. I have seen many times in beauty trade shows and conferences how hair extensions are put on, but I
have only used the clip on type.

There are many types of hair extensions and some other things to considerer when picking one that is right for you:

Natural hair and synthetic hair.
These are the Cadillacs of extensions and come in different qualities, depending on how the hair was treated and the type of hair used. The hair from Eastern Europe is considered the best quality because it does not frizz a lot.

With natural hair extensions you can do almost the same things you can do with your regular hair: color it, wash it, etc.

How to put it on?
There are a few ways to attach the extensions. They can be glued, sewed and clipped. The clip on types are the easiest to put on, the cheapest and do not damage the hair.

Mostly the hair does not get damaged with extension; at the most it will need some cutting after taking them off.

Hair extensions can be heavy and this is another consideration if you want extensions.

Before deciding on hair extensions, ask the hairdresser how they will be taken off and if the hair will suffer any damage.

Hair extensions can be expensive, because it is tedious to put them on; depending on the method it can take hours. Not all hairdressers know how to work with extensions and it is better to go to someone highly qualified.

Once the extensions are on, they may require a haircut and color to give a more natural look to your hair and face.

If you want to try extensions you can start with only a few or a clip on extension.
